Family of blind teacher killed by freight train sues

Published Dec 31 2015

OAKLEY — The family of a popular schoolteacher struck and killed by a freight train late last year has filed a wrongful-death lawsuit, claiming that the pedestrian crossway where the incident took place was hazardous.

Michael Hall, 52, a popular math teacher at Deer Valley High School, was struck and killed by a train Sat Nov 29 2014, on the East Cypress Road railroad crossing near Main Street, while walking to meet with his wife. A few mins. later, his wife arrived on scene looking for Hall, and a sheriff’s deputy had to inform her that Hall had been hit by a train.
