Oakley sues home developer for neglecting to build new fire station

Published Friday March 11

OAKLEY — As they continue to search for ways to help the financially embattled East Contra Costa Fire District, city leaders have filed a lawsuit against a developer that has yet to build a fire station in town, nontheless, despite agreeing to do so ten years ago.

Ton Monthe city of Oakley sued Shea Properties a big home building company that oversaw the Summer Lakes development. As part of its contract with the city — signed in 2006 — Shea Properties agreed to build a fire station on the house but hasn’t.

The suit asks that a judge compel the company to build the station and pay the city’s legal fees.
